Daniel Burjan

Daniel Burjan is an American Field and AKC pro who thrives on winning. This dates back to the first field trial dog he finished at sixteen years old. Then he won the Shooting Dog Championship in Boonville, Arkansas with Monomoy’s Tip Top Tuffy at 18 years old, and second place just hasn’t been good enough since.

“I don’t know any different and I don’t want anything different,” he says. But don’t mistake his confidence for bravado. It’s nothing but complete dedication to the field trial sport. From the time he was in high school, Daniel traveled to training camp in Arizona with his father, doing his school work on the road. He also trained dogs as part of a two year work/study program and participated in an agricultural program in summer school.

He finds satisfaction in competing and winning. “It’s in my blood,” says Burjan.

His specialties are breaking dogs for amateur handlers and developing puppies and derby dogs. He also trains client dogs for the National German Pointing Dog Association National Championships (NGPDA – The All Breed), the National Vizsla Association and the American Field Pheasant Championship, however, he’s selective about the dogs he takes. He leaves owners with no illusions about what he can and cannot accomplish with their dog. If the dog can’t win, neither can he, and neither can the amateur owner.

Daniel has had close to two hundred American Field One-Hour Championship Wins, and has finished somewhere between 70 and 80 AKC Field Champions. In over twenty two years of competing in field trials, he’s won the American Field All Breed (NGPDA) 9 times, the American Field Vizsla Nationals (NVA) 7 times, the AKC Vizsla National (VCA) 4 times and the AKC German Wirehaired Pointer Nationals once. He’s won various American Field Championships approximately 150 times with Vizslas, German Shorthaired Pointers, and German Wirehaired Pointers. He trained the All-Time Best Vizsla (at the time), Jack Daniels, having won four National Championships and 6 Regional Championships for a total of 10 Championship wins.
